Accelerated Reader is a computer-based reading program used at Hilburn Drive Elementary School to encourage more reading and to increase reading comprehension in our students.
Children are encouraged to check out Accelerated Reader books once they have become independent readers. These books have green tape on the spine and are marked with a color to indicate the reading level. For each Accelerated Reader book, there is a brief test available on the computers in the classrooms and in the media center. The child receives a comprehension score and points for each test taken.
